Although two eggs are often laid, the younger chick almost always perishes within a few days due to siblicide. The male has a pair-bonding display by sky-pointing by pacing slowly with his neck and bill pointed upwards, wings partly raised and whistling faintly. A gazing display has one bird staring at another. Pairs engage in allopreening. The male may also parade walk with an exaggerated high-stepping gait.
