Field Notes:

Together, the male and female excavate a horizontal tunnel that is 15–100 cm long and ends in an egg chamber where around 5 eggs are laid. Both the tunnel and egg chamber are inclined upwards to minimize water entry into the chamber and to help the flow of waste material out of the nest.
