Field Notes:

The nest is usually a hole in a tree where the female is blocked off with the eggs during incubation. The male feeds the femal through a small slit until the chicks and the female are too big to fit in the nest together. The the female breaks out of the nest and rebuilds it where after the male and female both feed the chicks through the slit until they are big enought to leave the nest.
